Hello, I'm Sophie
I work as a project manager. A parent. An expatriate based in Paris, France.
Several years ago, I moved here with my family. What started as a short-term contract gradually opened a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to France wasn't part of the long-term plan. Like many expat moves, it began with a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more substantial.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, and heightened expectations. Everyday tasks seemed more tricky than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning on the job. Yet gradually routines took shape. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Built Ember Shore Novel
Most online information was either relocation advice at a corporate level or shallow tourism material. What was missing was a sincere, day-to-day family viewpoint.
This site exists to bridge that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in France.
